This project was awarded under a repair/renovation IDIQ contract Signature Renovations holds with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA). Signature supplied, installed, and configured the locking mechanisms to 47 passenger emergency swing gates at 24 separate WMATA stations located in the Washington D.C., Virginia, and Maryland areas.

Signature also upgraded the existing Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) infrastructure (automatic gate machines, ticket vending and checking machines) to support swing gates installation, and the expansion of the faregate capacity.  This Swing Gate program was implemented by WMATA to improve the safety and security at kiosk stations by combating fare evasions through the introduction of secure swing gates.
